The First Assembly of the Turkic World Insurance Union (TWIU) was held in Shusha, Azerbaijan.

The Assembly took place with the strategic support of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, organized by the Azerbaijan Insurers Association (ASA), and with the participation of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

The event brought together Aliyar Mammadyarov, First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan; Nagif Hamzayev, Member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Farid Mammadov, representative of the Organization of Turkic States; as well as representatives of financial regulatory authorities and insurance associations from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

The Assembly featured two panel discussions — “Regulatory Approaches in the Insurance Industry of the Turkic World” and “Turkic World Insurance Union: Goals and Future Prospects” — providing a platform for extensive discussions on key issues and current priorities of importance to the insurance sector.

At the conclusion of the Assembly, the host country for the next TWIU Assembly, scheduled for 2026, was also determined. By unanimous decision of the Union’s members, Türkiye was selected to host the next Assembly of the Turkic World Insurance Union in 2026.

The Turkic World Insurance Union was established on 24 May 2022 at the International Insurance Summit held in Istanbul, Türkiye, with the insurance associations of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan as its founding members.
